Good Luck The Bantams

Now I’m not a big football fan; but even I’ve been swept up in the enthusiasm that’s been generated around Bradford by City’s forthcoming cup match, their first since 1911, against Swansea this coming Sunday – 24th Feb, at Wembley.

There’s a real and tangible sense of pride floating over the city, a buzz which has been growing ever since The Bantams saw off Wigan Athletic, Arsenal and then Aston Villa during the run up to the final. I was pleased to become part of it all when I was asked to shoot the signing of a giant Bantams’ shirt by the Lord Mayor at Bradford Town Hall.

The ‘Good Luck’ shirt, produced by The Co-operative, is 20 metres square and is being circulated around local schools and businesses as a way of showing how much people are supporting the club.

On this page you can see some of the photographs I took including one of your’s truly (centre) and Emmerdale’s Nicky Betteridge (left) showing his support for City.

Now the question is – where do my loyalties lie for Sunday’s match? Is it for Swansea where I went to university or is it Bradford?

It’s got to be Bradford surely!

Good luck The Bantams.

Thrashed five nil! Ah well, Bradfordians can be proud that their team got as far as they did. No shame in that – they were simply outclassed by Swansea.

Loving the size of that shirt! Amazing. Just a shame about the 5-0 result. I hope your University affinity with Swansea made it a little easier to digest.
